Elizabeth Polsgrove “Lightning Liz”

Hi!  I’m 11 years old, I live in Colorado Springs and my parents say I started doing pull ups on our front porch swing when I was 3.  I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love swinging, climbing and doing monkey bars at the playground.  I discovered ninja and started competing 3 years ago when I was 8.  Since then I’ve done over 60 competitions across the country including a few world championships, but my favorite memory so far was getting to compete on Season 3 of American Ninja Warrior Junior.  It was so fun & so awesome meeting a bunch of amazing ninjas from all over the US who are now my friends!

Just like any sport, there can be a lot of ups and downs in ninja.  I broke my arm a few months before I started competing, and one of my biggest challenges is overcoming fear when facing obstacles that are really high or look really hard.  That’s why one of my favorite Bible verses is Joshua 1:9… “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with  you whever you go”.

I don’t really have a favorite obstacle, so let’s just say any kind of lache… I just love flying through the air.  Last fall I made a goal to do an 11-foot lache before my 11th birthday, and I did it  – with 2 weeks to spare!  I also tore half the skin off of my left palm catching the bar on that one, but it was worth it! (and ninjas heal up quickly haha)
